Oradour-sur-Glane Martyr Village - Limoges - France - World War II - Euroepan Tourist Guide - euro-t-guide.com

The small village of Oradour-sur-Glane was raided by German SS troops on the 10th of June 1944 - as revenge for French sabotage actions in the area.   Almost the entire population - 642 men, women and children were killed. Only a few survived. The German forces burned or blew up all the houses in the village. After the war the village was made a memorial site - left almost as it looked when the German forces left it in 1944.
