France - Fort de Vaux - 5

Fort de Vaux - World War I museum - Battlefield - Memorial - - European Tourist Guide - euro-t-guide.com

The Fort de Vaux was considered to be one of the strongest fortresses that protected the area north east of Verdun during World War I. The fortress saw a lot of action during World War I and was one point captured by the Germans after a heroic defence by the French. Later during the war the fort was again recaptured by the French force. The area surrounding the fortress still shows that many scars of the World War I battles.
