France - Arromanches D-day Harbour
- 1 |
|
|
 |
At Arromanches the allied forces created a huge
artificial harbour - called a Mulburry harbour, which was to supply their forces during the first days
and weeks after D-day. The harbour was build by a lot of huge
sections that was prefabricated, and it was very important for the allied forces during the first part of the
invasion. The harbour was partly destroyed by a huge
storm a few weeks after D-day. The remains of the harbour can been
seen all over the Arromanches area.
