Germany - Danevirke Viking Wall &
Museum |
|

The Danevirke Viking Wall is today just a small row of hills
in the northern part of Germany, but when it was build and in full
use (approx. year 900 - 1200) it was a huge part of the defence of
Denmark. A defence of the Vikings against the "barbarians" that
lived Germany. The wall stretches all the way from coast to coast in
this area - almost like the Great Wall of China, just much shorter.

At the
Danevirke Viking Wall
there is a small museum telling
the story of the wall, King Gorm the Old, Queen Thyra and King
Valdemar the Great, that were among the builders of this wall.
